What's happening in the Parish.
After being allowed to deteriorate for years, the fingerposts around Bramshaw and Fritham recently got a face lift.
Unclassified roads in the forest have traditionally had cast iron fingerposts, with names of places and distances clearly marked. This historical street furniture has sadly been allowed to decay. The speed of modern traffic means that any B road must have reflective signs with letters of a certain size and font. This leaves our major roads lacking in any local identity.
Hampshire Highways has taken the initiative and identified 5 locations in the Parish, where unclassified roads meet, to re furbish the fingerposts. New "fingers" were re cast, and finials replaced. You can see by the photos below (click to enlarge), this is not before time! The new fingerposts are a huge improvement.
